Yoga for Anxiety

Sunday - October 22nd - 12:30-3:30pm

Is anxiety something you deal with on a regular, or perhaps increasing, basis?

You aren’t alone. A little is okay, but too much can be crippling & can make one's life very small.

Monika Kali Thompson is the owner of Fierce Love Yoga in Snohomish, WA. She is coming to our studio, to help us understand how to use yoga and breath to address anxiety in our lives and find calm and freedom.

In this workshop, you will learn from Monika effective self-regulation techniques in times of need that are guaranteed to bring ease with yoga, breath work and meditation.

These practices are extremely valuable in our often over-scheduled, competitive, plugged-in life. We all feel so much better when we’re centered & grounded.

This workshop will include a bit of lecture, breathing techniques and roughly an hour of yoga suitable for all bodies. There will be a downloadable packet emailed to participants after the class covering all class content. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water, a mat ,and a notebook and pen if you desire.

Find Your Posture, Ease Your Strain

Saturday, November 4th, 2017, 2:30-4:30pm

Find your most comfortable postures and ease your strain, in yoga and in your everyday life!

Jennifer Soames knows how to see small movements and adjustments in the body that can make a big difference. She will help you go back to (or begin with) some common asanas and fundamentals by breaking down each posture into its components, to find opportunities for more space and ease within your body. With over 11 years of experience as a licensed bodyworker, she will offer gentle hands-on guidance to help you truly feel the often subtle changes you can make to truly experience the posture with less strain, better alignment, more space and increased safety.

With the help of props including her massage table, you’ll learn how to get the most out of every posture in every practice, stay safe while challenging yourself in new ways, and how to carry these fundamentals into your everyday life, reducing your risk of injury both on and off the mat. Open to all levels of yoga experience, whether you’re new to yoga and want to learn more about common postures, or are a seasoned yogi who wants to challenge themselves further.

Regular price: $55 for 2-hour session

Annual/Monthly Member price: $45

Early bird through October 1st: $5 off (use code JS5)

This class is capped at 10 people to maximize each person's experience in getting to work with Jennifer. Register early!

Finding Myself Within The Body Love Spectrum

We all come into this world perfectly whole and aware of the preciousness of who we are simply by being. As we grow up our bodies and experiences are shaped by our environment. Living in a fat-phobic, externally validating society does a number on how we see ourselves and how we move through the world. We start to question our worth, our ideas, and our bodies, all the while being told that we should “love ourselves” (Talk about a catch 22).

I would like to invite you to a new kind of workshop, a workshop where you are the teacher and the guide for yourself. We will gather together, share about our experiences, and heal. We will dance based on feeling rather than doing it right… because what is right dancing anyway?

We will practice yoga, and workshop transitions and poses that empower us to be the bad ass queens that we are. We will pull goddess cards and eat chocolate! But most importantly, we will be kind to ourselves, we will take a break from the inner critic’s hamster wheel and sit in a circle of humans who want to gather to be seen and to see YOU! Body Love is a spectrum, wherever you are on the spectrum between body hate and body love is allowed and welcome, because loving ourselves is an active practice.

Come practice with us, come share who you are, and come move in a way that feels just right to you. <3

BIO for Instructor: Anna Chapman is a Body Positive yoga teacher who came to this work after noticing there were no bodies that looked like her own in the Portland yoga community. Feeling frustrated by the lack of size diversity in the western yoga world she came to conclusion that she needed to create what she so desperately wanted for herself. After earning her 200-hr Yoga Certification through Yoga Works, she developed Body Love Yoga, a practice geared towards body acceptance and size diversity combining the styles of Hatha yoga and Restorative yoga, she also incorporates dance in her practice. Anna is passionate about creating intersectional feminist space for all body sizes, races, and genders to come together to practice embodiment.
